How We Test

GearCheckpoint uses a practical review process focused on compatibility, real-world usefulness, platform rules, and clear buying guidance.

Our testing and research process

GearCheckpoint evaluates gaming hardware and storage recommendations by focusing on what matters to regular players: compatibility, capacity, speed, value, and platform limitations.

Compatibility first

For PS5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC guides, compatibility is treated as the first checkpoint. A product is not useful if it does not work correctly for the platform.

Real-world storage planning

Storage guides consider game installs, updates, captures, extra downloads, and usable free space instead of only looking at the advertised size on the box.

Clear recommendations

The goal is not to overwhelm readers with every possible product. The goal is to narrow the decision and explain why an option makes sense.

Updates over time

Guides may be updated as official game requirements, product availability, pricing, or platform rules change.
